Kyle, When I hit that re-tread on Central Expressway last month it was quite a wild ride. But after the initial shock wore off, the panic set in when I started to think of what was going to happen to my Corvette. Would it ever be the same again? Would it be totaled? When a long time friend of mine reffered me to Kyle at SheerMetal as somebody that he trusted, I thought that I was in for a slightly better than horrible experience. What these guys did for me not only gave me back a lot of my previously lost faith in humanity and also in smaller businesses. Once I dropped the car off at the shop I did not have to lift another finger. Kyle took care of dealing with the insurance company, which had to be supplemented several times as the insurance company's inspector had apparently missed a great deal of things on his initial estimate. They took care of all the parts that needed to be ordered, got them, installed them, and then tested it all to make sure it was 100%. What's probably just as important is that Kyle kept in contact and kept me informed on a nearly daily basis about what was going on at that time. Weather it be that they were waiting on parts or from word from the insurance company. Which, in my experience, the insurance company seems to be the largest time comsumer of the whole deal. I do not envy these guys the task of having to deal with insurance companies on a daily basis. When I got the car back yesterday and got behind the wheel of my baby after a few weeks everything was finally right with the world again. The car looks absolutely fantastic and drives as well as it ever did. And if you're an obsessive compulsive like I am, you can rest assured that I'd have known if something was wrong. Kyle and his team took my rotten misfortune and turned it around. Most Corvette owners I've known, being real car enthusiests, are EXTREMELY picky about who they hand over the keys to when they need something done to it. I can rest easy now knowing that my car was fixed, and fixed right, by people who actually see more than just a paycheck attached to a repair estimate. They know what the car means to you. And as such do not settle for anything sub-standard. And it shows in their dedication to both the quality of their workmanship and the quality of their characters. The insurance company mentioned that I should take the car to Service King. Trying to see the “glass half full,” I thought perhaps I could take advantage of the situation by ordering a sharper looking hood from the manufacturer and paying the difference.
