Frequently asked questions...
What makes SheerMetal better than other collision repair shops?
Integrity, quality and the customer experience.
We know that you are putting your trust in us when you drop off your car or truck at SheerMetal. We do not take this lightly--we will treat your vehicle as if it were one of our own.
Do I need to repaint my entire car if only one spot was damaged?
The best answer we can provide is maybe, or maybe not. This really depends on the extent of the damage to the vehicle. The age of your car is also a determining factor since paint wears over time. Bring it in and let’s talk about your options and the best way to repair the paint finish.
Do you provide estimates over the phone?
It’s better for you that we don’t. We need to see your vehicle and discuss various options with you to give you the best price possible. We’re not big on surprises at SheerMetal—we like results.
How many estimates do I need?
Just one. Collision repair is like anything else: you get what you pay for. A quality car body repair takes time, experience, and new factory parts.
Beware of unusually low estimates. That may be a signal that the car body shop preparing the estimate may not know how to repair your vehicle properly. You may even find, in the end, that your bill was higher than you expected.
And keep in mind that no insurance company can force you to get an estimate from any car body repair shop you do not feel would competently repair your vehicle to its pre-accident condition.
If I was in an accident, how much will I have to pay to get my vehicle repaired?
You will only be responsible for a deductible, which is similar to a co-pay you might pay when you visit a doctor. Typical deductibles can range from $250 to $1,000, depending on your insurance policy. We can talk with your insurance provider to determine the cost based upon the scope of the work, unless it’s a small job that you would rather not pass through insurance.
While SheerMetal is working on my car, how will I get around?
As you complete paperwork and other “drop-off” related items, we’ll arrange for Enterprise to set up a rental car just for you. A representative will pick you up and take you to your rental car.
When your vehicle is ready for pickup, you can simply drop off the rental vehicle at our location and get back on the road.
How long do I have to wait before I can wash my car after it is painted?
After the repairs are completed, you will be able to wash your vehicle immediately. At SheerMetal we wash each vehicle before delivery to the customer, as well as wathe painted panels.
Do I need to do anything special before I bring my vehicle to your body shop?
- Please remove all personal items, especially in your trunk area.
- Fill your fuel tank so we can provide proper realignment.
- Disable all automotive and audio alarm systems or provide us with the appropriate codes to bypass them during your repair process. You may wish to write down your radio station settings as they may be erased if the battery is disconnected during repairs.
- Bring all keys for locked items, such as trunks, wheel locks, spare tire locks, roof rack locks, et cetera. We will probably need more than a valet key to complete most repairs.
- Have your estimate information available. This should include the name of the responsible insurance carrier, your policy number, your claim number, and your claim representative's name and phone number.
